In the year 2003 the car was fully restored, overhauled and rally prepared to participate in the 2006 Amsterdam Volvo's 122 and the dashing P1800 were contemporary upon introduction, but the ultimate PV, the 544, continued to sell steadily until being phased out in 1966. The PV544 never pandered to popular taste, and today it remains relatively inexpensive for the discerning few who seek its uniquely sporty flavor.
